In the Galleries At the MuseumsRichard Merkin & Meg Lipke at Carrie Haddad Gallery
Now - December 12

Richard Merkin, Eberhardt in Algeria
Painter and illustrator Richard Merkin (1938 - 2009) was a contributing editor for Vanity Fair, wrote a style column for Gentleman’s Quarterly, and contributed illustrations to other magazines, including The New Yorker, Harper’s, and The New York Times’ Sunday Magazine. His work is held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum, The Smithsonian Institution, and more. This show includes drawings and paintings from his estate, many of which are vivid, dream-like juxtapositions of scenes from his life and images of Americana. In the Backroom is an exhibit of abstract paintings by Meg Lipke, her first show in the gallery.
