Baird Hersey & PRANA at Sadhana
Friday, October 8 @ 7:30 p.m.

Yoga students often hear their teachers bandy about the word “prana,” which is Sanskrit for breath-related life force or vital energy. PRANA is also the name of a nine-voice overtone choir, formed by Baird Hersey, that blends Western vocal music and the sacred sounds of Tibet, Mongolia, and India to produce textured harmonics and high arcing melodies that combine to relax the body, still the mind, and open the hearts of all who listen. Those listeners, by the way, are a pretty impressive bunch; PRANA has performed for The Dalai Lama and the late ashtanga yoga guru Sri K. Patthabhi Jois; they’ve opened for Phillip Glass and regularly perform with the current king of kirtan, Krishna Das.
