Berkshire Bach Ensemble at “Zimmerman’s Coffee House”
Saturday, November 27 @ 8 p.m.

Join in the Berkshire Bach Society’s 20th anniversary celebration as Great Barrington’s First Congregational Church transforms into Zimmermann’s Coffeehaus for A Festive Year, an inventive program featuring Baroque musical tributes to the seasons in Europe: summer on the Thames with Handel’s Trumpet Suite in D, from an early version of the composer’s Water Musick; autumn in Venice with Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in B-flat major “La Caccia” (The Hunt); Christmas in Rome with Corelli’s Concerto Grosso in G minor “Fatto per la notte di natale” Op. 6 No. 8 “Christmas”; and spring in Leipzig with the world premiere of Kenneth Cooper’s reconstruction of Bach’s Cantata “Vergnügte Pleissenstadt” (Lucky Leipzig), known as the Wedding Cantata. Herr Zimmermann (baritone Benjamin Luxon) hosts a coffee house during intermission with complimentary sweets and beverages from Castle Street Cafe, where you can also enjoy a special pre-show, prix fixe repast for $40 (reservations required).
