Carrie Rodriguez & Jim lauderdale at Club Helsinki
Saturday, November 6 @ 9 p.m.
Released this August, Love & Circumstance, the latest album by sultry fiddle phenom Carrie Rodriguez, boasts songs written by a stellar crew, including John Hiatt/Ry Cooder/Nick Lowe/Jim Keltner (aka Little Village), M. Ward, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thompson, Townes van Zandt, and Hank Williams, which is representative of the company she keeps. Rodriguez has opened for John Prine, toured with Chip Taylor (writer of the iconic song Wild Thing), and had Lyle Lovett for a musical mentor, sitting in with his band while she still a college student. The Boston Globe has hailed her as “...one of the most compelling new voices on the roots-rock scene.” Sharing the bill is two-time Grammy-Award-winner Jim Lauderdale, known as a musician’s musician in the bluegrass and country worlds, who has hosted the Americana Music Association’s awards program for the past seven years, after having racked up a few of those awards himself, and just performed on Late Night with David Letterman as part of Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes.
