Dancers from the New York City Ballet at Williams
Friday, October 15 @ 7:30 p.m

A special exploration of Balanchine‘s Davidsbündlertänze, one of the choreographer’s final major dance works, includes a discussion of the music of Robert Schumann by Marjorie Hirsch, Professor of Music; an excerpt from a documentary on Karin von Aroldingen, an original cast member and interpreter of Balanchine choreography; and a performance of the piece by principal dancers from the New York City Ballet to live accompaniment of the 18 piano pieces that comprise Schumann’s work—a celebration of his reconciliation with sweetheart Clara Wieck.
