Ghosts and Curses at MASS MoCA
Saturday, October 30 @ 8 p.m.

Roundly viewed as the best reading series in New York City, perhaps because of the challenges posed to its participants, The Happy Ending Series heads north for a special holiday edition called Ghosts and Curses, hosted by the event’s founder, novelist Amanda Stern. The readers—fiction writer and Williams prof Jim Shepard; Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Paul Harding; and esrtwhile Throwing Muses lead singer/guitarist-turned memoirist Kristin Hersh— are required to take one public risk. The musician who plays the music between readings—in this case Hersh doing double duty— must play one cover song and get the audience to sing along. Sounds like a recipe for literate fun.
