House of Usher with Marco Benevento at MASS MoCA
Friday, October 22 @ 8:00 p.m.
Take a cult classic and add live, original music composed just for the film in question, and you’ve got a sure-fire formula for a campy cultural experience. For the past several years, MASS MoCA has ushered in Halloween with this winning formulation. This year’s film is the incredibly creepy House of Usher, starring the incomparable Vincent Price in Roger Corman‘s 1960 adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, The Fall of the House of Usher. Self-proclaimed “sound sculptor” Marco Benevento, an innovative organist and jamband vituoso, supplies the music side of the equation with a playfully menacing score that brings the deranged fun to new heights. It’s part of the 12th Annual Williamstown Film Festival.
