John McCutcheon at Infinity Hall
Sunday, December 5 @ 8 p.m.
Politically progressive folksinger John McCutcheon is known as much—if not moreseo—for his storytelling as for his playing. This is not to denigrate his musicianship, which is superb and multifaceted; Johnny Cash called him “The most impressive instrumentalist I’ve ever heard.” It’s just that McCutcheon he has long been able to encapsulate a life, or a meaningful episode of a life, better than nearly anyone out there. His ability to spin a tale has been compared to that of Will Rogers or Garrison Keillor. According to the Washington Post, “His storytelling has the richness of fine literature.”
