John Zorn at Bard
Friday, November 12 @ 8 p.m.
A native son of New York, experimental composer John Zorn has been avant-garde for so long he’s part of the establishment at this point. Nevertheless, his compositions remain startling and satisfying, with their seamless kitchen-sink blend of jazz, classical, pop, punk, klezmer, and improvisation. This concert focuses on work in a more modern classical vein, including his compositions (fay çe que vouldras), for solo piano; Frammenti del Sappho, for five female voices; and his strong quartet Necronomicon.
