Regina Carter at MCLA
Saturday, October 23 @ 8 p.m.
In case you miss her earlier this week at Carnegie Hall, the MacArthur Award-winning composer and violinist Regina Carter leads an all-star group of musicians, including world-famous Kora virtuoso Yacouba Sissoka, in an evening of traditional African folk melodies re-written and infused with a contemporary vibe to benefit MCLA’s Margaret Hart ‘35 Scholarship for students of color. The program includes selections from Carter’s latest release, Reverse Thread, with interpretations of music that runs the gamut from field recordings of Ugandan Jews to songs of the African Diaspora.
