The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Returns
A crunchy granola friend who’s a farmer and a Ph.D has been searching for the legendary Berkshires folk music scene since relocating from the West Coast a few years ago. I told him he should go to the Guthrie Center in Great Barrington, the Dream Away Lodge in Becket and, this weekend, the 20th anniversary edition of the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, which runs at Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, NY, from July 24 - 27. While die-hards camp on the grounds for the entire four days (and with the iffy weather forecast it may be shades of Woodstock), daily tickets are available $35 to $50 (and a four-day, no-camping pass is $115.) The festival’s program includes dozens of established names (such as Dar Williams and Janice Ian) and up-and-coming, acts—a four-ring circus with a Dance Stage, Family Stage, Workshop Stage, and Main Stage. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll hear.
Dar Williams (Saturday at 8:30 PM)
The Strangelings (Friday at 8:30 PM)
Janis Ian (Sunday at 6:25 PM)
