Words & Music in Rhinebeck
You’ve got to love a bookstore that offers live music after dark. Oblong Books & Music in Rhinebeck, NY, is hosting a free concert with singer/songwriter Dean Batstone this Saturday night, March 15, at 7:30 PM.
“We’re hoping to start a regular series this summer,” says Oblong owner Dick Hermans. “Dean’s agent, Michael Pillot, who lives in Stanfordville, brought me Dean’s new CD and suggested we do something together. I liked what I heard.” Oblong’s next concert will be April 19, which is national Record Store Day (a celebration of independently owned music stores.) “This is a really good place to hear music,” says Hermans. “Books make good baffling for the sound so there’s no echo.”
