Winter is audition season for our regional theater companies as they compete to import the best talent for their summer productions. At Tri-Arts in Sharon, CT, which casts Actors Equity performers with Broadway credits alongside inspired amateurs from the community, they are looking for hot guys willing to strip down for The Full Monty, a musical based on the 1997 British film, which ran on Broadway from 2000 - 2002.

We’re not prudes, but nevertheless we wondered whether The Full Monty might be, well, a bit risqué for a theater company that often has junior and senior high school students in the chorus?

To balance out its season, TriArts will produce Lerner & Lowe's Camelot (July 11 - 20) and Elton John’s rock-and-roll Aida (July 31 - August 17), which ran on Broadway for 1,852 performances. TriArts executive director Alice Bemand says the season reflects the diversity of American musical theater: “We think The Full Monty is a good counterpoint to a traditional chestnut like Camelot and the youthful pop energy of Aida.”
