Dan’s Diary: Brainstorm in the Berkshires
During Friday’s snowstorm, inspiration struck Kevin Sprague, who made himself a Snowtini. “We are working on some new ad/card ideas for Berkshire Mountain Distillers, so we had started to set up for the shoot earlier in the day on friday,” says Sprague who runs Studio Two in Lenox. “The snow was coming down outside and I thought I would chill a martini glass by putting it out on the step for a while. We didn’t get around to pulling off the shoot, so at the end of the day I remembered the glass, and the idea just popped into my head, so I opened up the door to the studio, put together the glass and the bottle, set up my strobe lights and snapped away for a while. I poured the gin into the glass and the snow just kind of floated there for a while before it warmed up enough to melt into the gin. It was kind of lovely. If you could pull it off at a bar you would have a hit! It actually worked perfectly: the gin was icy cold, the edge of the glass had these brilliant little crystals on it, and there is so little water in the snow that it didn’t dilute it at all. What a hoot.”
