The Dowmel Lectures: Words of Wisdom for Free
Bill Moyers will be the final speaker for the Dowmel Lecture series
The concept that you get what you pay for doesn’t apply when you’re talking about the Dowmel Foundation’s free lecture series, which has been bringing great minds and newsmakers (such as Al Gore, Elie Wiesel, Ruth Bader Ginsburg) to the auditorium at Monument Mountain Regional High School for more a decade. This is the series’ final season, and the first speaker on Tuesday, October 6, will be Jeffrey Garten, the former dean of the Yale School of Management and undersecretary for commerce in the Clinton Administration (and the husband of superstar cookbook author Ina Garten aka “The Barefoot Contessa”) who will speak on “The United States Economy and Its Recovery.” The Dowmel Lectures have a quirky distribution system for the free tickets, which are only available on a first come first served basis a couple of weeks before each lecture: Tickets are distributed beginning at 8 a.m. (doors open at 7 a.m.) on a Friday at the Berkshire Museum and at 8:30 a.m. (doors open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 a.m.) on a Saturday at Monument Mountain. If tickets are remaining after the initial distribution period, they will be distributed during regular museum or school business hours.
