We love eating at the bar at Allium.  Great chill vibe with perfect cocktails and yummy bar nibbles.  The bartenders, especially Ted, are super cool.

I was sorely disappointed in both the service and the food at Allium last night. I much prefer Route 7 Grill.

Inspect the wine selections carefully if you are eating in the bar. A very smart list awaits filled with some jewels of small communes in France and elsewhere, thoughtfully offered as a counterpoint to the California wines which can at times be overwhelmingly hot with alcohol or buried in fruit. Great matches with their food offerings.

Went to allium with a group of friends about a month ago and had a terrific experience. Loved the cocktails menu, the service was attentive and accommodating and the food was really great. We tried a number of dishes and tasted each—the cod fritters were, by far, my favorite! Would definitely return when visiting GB again…

Had a great dinner before a Club Helsinki show - inspired mixed drinks and good wine list - lots of choices from more expensive to reasonable. Shared a bunch of dishes and enjoyed them all. Especially liked the local farms link up by dish. Staff were great and very welcoming.

Couldn’t make up our minds, so we ordered everything and shared. Highly recommended- a great dinner in a lovely setting with top service. Dangerous mixed drinks, be warned!

Rural Intelligence Food Local and seasonal is the m.o. at Allium, (which took over the storefronts once occupied by the tragically wonderful Verdura and Due) so the menu reads a bit like a wine list: those aren’t just any turnips alongside that delicious duck breast on a bed of faro ($25), they’re Farm Girl Hakurei turnips, and don’t you forget it.  In the city, such fussing about the provenance of produce seems twee.  Here, we like seeing our farming neighbors duly credited, especially since the chef does such justice to their stuff.  Some of the concoctions may sound a tad weird (roasted cod with mussels and Italian sausage ($25), followed by a blue hubbard brullee), but they work, as does the friendly young staff, so who’s arguing?
