Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is a misnomer, because it lasts for two weeks: March 15 - 28. All of the participating restaurants are offering $20 three-course lunches and $28 three-course dinners (excluding tax, tip and beverages) and some have Friday and/or Saturday night exclusions. Nevertheless, the restaurant week is an opportunity to sample the bounty of the Hudson Valley, which has been at the forefront of the farm-to-table movement. The synergy between the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and fertile farms of Dutchess and Columbia counties has made the Hudson Valley a locavore’s paradise. It’s a good excuse to re-visit some of RI’s favorite spots such as the Artist’s Palate in Poughkeepsie, the Blue Plate in Chatham, La Puerta Azul in Salt Point, No. 9 in Millerton, Red Devon in Bangall, Stissing House in Pine Plains, and Terrapin in Rhinebeck. It’s also the encouragement we need to check out places we’ve been meaning to try such as Charlotte’s in Millbrook and the Greens at the Copake Country Club (photo above) on Copake Lake.
