Rural Intelligence FoodIf you’re one of those people who have become passionate fans of Nudel in Lenox and are always looking for a new excuse to eat at Bjorn Somlo‘s four-month-old restaurant, you may want to help the young chef celebrate his 30th birthday this weekend. On Thursday, January 7, Bjorn will be offering an 8-course Big Pig Tasting menu for $75 and a five-course version for $55; if you’re cash or cholesterol conscious, you’ll still be able to order a bowl of pasta for $15. On Saturday, January 9, Bjorn will not only be cooking but he’ll be cooked for, too, when he serves up a special $80 Tasting Menu that will feature his own food (fluke ceviche with beets, smoky lemon and wasabi tobiko; sweetbread hot dog with balsamic onions and horseradish mustard) as well as dishes prepared by friends such as foie gras with Blue Moon shrooms, turnips and toasted bacon brioche by Paul Pearson of Blantyre and duck ragu with Rawson Brook chevre ravioli, fennel pollen and burnt orange by Daire Rooney of Brix. Less ambitious appetites can order individual plates at $15 each. And for these two special dinners, Bjorn is breaking his no-reservations policy, because he wants to make sure that he has full houses for his birthday meals.
