Shopping: The Fishman Cometh
The Berkshires may be far from the nearest ocean, but we still have access to the freshest fish, thanks to Matt Rubiner, who’s as passionate and painstaking about seafood as he is about cheese, chocolate and espresso. News: A Chatham Bakery Expands to GBThe Chatham Village Cake Shoppe & Patisserie, which has built a loyal following in Columbia County now wants to conquer the Berkshires. Last week, Robert Harvey opened an outpost on Railroad Street (in Karen Allen’s old storefront) that sells his European style cakes and pastries as well as all-American cupcakes, which are all made in Chatham. “Wedding and birthday cakes are our specialty,” he says, noting that he also makes something called a “flapjack” for the crunchy Berkshires crowd. “It’s like a granola bar made with oatmeal and pecans.” 35 Railroad Street; 413-528-8008 |
