Clowning Around with Shakespeare at Bardavon

February 3 @ 7 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
Even many adults find it difficult to grasp the prose of William Shakespeare, but for 100 fourth and fifth graders in Poughkeepsie learning through the art of circus performance made the lessons tumble-down fun. Theater/Circus Arts Teaching Artist Sean Patrick Fagan spent two weeks exploring the circus arts of juggling, tumbling, clowning, partner acrobatics, and more as he introduced students to Shakespeare’s many comedic scenes and clownish characters.

The public gets to enjoy the fruits of their labors as Shakespeare’s Clowns offer a one-time only performance. Fagan has worked for some of the premier children’s entertainment organizations including Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Walt Disney Inc., Nickelodeon Jr. Television, and Scholastic’s Magic School Bus Live. Plus he has a “Fun Arts” degree from Ringling’s Clown College, so the show promises to be a fun evening.
