Dance Theater Brings Indian Culture to Poughkeepsie

November 12 @ 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
The Lakota Sioux Indian Dance Theatre celebrates the Native American culture and brings its rich musical traditions to a modern-day audience through the use of spectacular video imagery accompanied by live songs and narratives. The one-hour show at Bardavon weaves together traditional, sacred, and courting songs with the musical performance.

Founded at the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, the Lakota Sioux Indian Dance Theatre is supported by traditional Lakota Indian educators, healers, community leaders, championship pow wow dancers, singers, and storytellers. The morning performance at Bardavon is for grades 3 to 6 and the evening show is open to the public.
