Elizabethan History at Dutchess Community College

January 29 @ 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
What better way for children to learn about history than by experiencing events (almost) firsthand? Kitty Jones has been honing her craft of interactive theatre since 1987, but her repertoire goes back some 4,000 years longer. With her Kit’s Interactive Theatre, she brings to life such subjects as ancient Egypt, colonial life and Mother Nature.

Dutchess County Community College this weekend hosts her show The Royalty of the Renaissance, in which Ms. Jones explores the splendor of Elizabethan history, manners and customs, court dancing, and ladyship and knighthood exhibitions. Lady Celia Beaumont, the main character, is about to be betrothed when her celebration is interrupted by Queen Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne. The Majestic Court Dance that follows involves audience members, as they learn what it was like to be a part of English royalty.
