Furry Fun at Alpaca Days in Chatham

September 25, 26 @ 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
Yes, the animal known as an alpaca is different from its similar-looking brethren, the llama. If you want to find out exactly how they differ, and meet some alpacas in person, Alpaca Farm Days is the place to be. Spruce Ridge Farm in Old Chatham and Chatham Alpacas in Chatham Center will open their doors to the curious as part of National Alpaca Farm Days. The farms are only a few miles apart.

Visitors can get up close and personal to hundreds of alpacas as well as pigs and cattle. Local spinners and weavers will be on hand demonstrating their craft, as will local Girl Scouts who use alpaca fiber to knit hats for Spruce Ridge’s store. If you’re in the market to stock up on warm, fuzzy socks and sweaters in preparation for fall, they have plenty of them and more alpaca products. Other local craftspeople and artisans will be at Spruce Ridge, with free coffee from Strongtree Coffee of Hudson and traditional Mexican fare for purchase. Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch.
