Graphic Novel Workshop for Teens in Hillsdale
November 20, 27 @ 12 - 1:30 p.m.
December 4, 11 @ 12 - 3 p.m.

Graphic novels, a/k/a comic books, are no longer the purview of teenage boys alone. They have become big business, with many being made into movies, and enjoy fans of both genders and all ages. Veteran graphic novelist and graphic novel instructor, Barbara Slate, will guide area teens through the process she learned in her early days working for Marvel and DC Comics, during a four-session workshop at the Roeliff Jansen Community Library.
Participants will receive the inspiration and know-how to get the stories they want to tell out of their heads and onto paper. Slate encourages any teen with a story tell, whether they know how to draw or not, to join the workshop. The would-be authors will learn how to develop characters, plot stories and gain tips on the creative process. Each participant will also receive a free copy of Slateʼs book You Can Do A Graphic Novel.
