Join the Sinterklaas Parade in Rhinebeck

Rural Intelligence KidsIf there is anything that children love more than watching a parade it’s being in one, and everyone is invited to participate in the Children’s Starlight Parade on Saturday, December 6, at 6 PM, which is part of Rhinebeck’s mammoth Sinterklaas celebration. How big is this event, which is based on an ancient celebration that Dutch settlers brought to the new world 300 years ago? It’s big enough to have a 28 page catalog (without ads) describing all the festivities, which you can find on the Sinterklaas websiteRural Intelligence Kids Rhinebeck is buzzing with anticipation and dozens of volunteers have been building the giant puppets (above) for the festival that runs from 10 AM to 11 PM. While kids in Rhinebeck have been getting ready for weeks, any child who wants to participate in the parade is invited to the Crowns and Branches Workshop at the Dutch Reformed Church  from 12 - 4 PM. There will be hundreds of branches for children to decorate with jewels, glitter, ribbon, lace, streamers, wonderfilm, which they can carry in the parade and take home afterwards as a souvenir.
