Mass MoCA Examines Color’s Influence on Gender

Now through February 27, 2011

Rural Intelligence Kids
Looking for a holiday outing to break up the winter break? MassMoCA galleries Galleries are closed Christmas Day but open extended hours from Sunday, Dec. 26, through Sunday, January 2 (including January 1) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kidspace is open 11a.m to 4 p.m. all those days as well. Art making projects are held Saturdays and Sundays.

Currently on display at Kidspace is work by visual artist Portia Munson. Munson, of Woodstock, uses paintings, photographs, and everyday objects to demonstrate the mixed messages our children receive about gender and mass consumption. The sheer mass of collected pink and blue material goods make plain how children are indoctrinated into the world of materialism and are taught social rules for gender identity from an early age.

Kidspace at MASS MoCA
Admission: $15 adults, $10 students, $5 children 6 - 16, free for 5 and under, members free
1040 Mass MoCA Way
