Pittsfield Celebrates Harry Potter Opening

November 18 @ 8:30 p.m. - midnight
Rural Intelligence Kids
Every time a new Harry Potter movie comes out, the opening conjures up a frenzied excitement. The city of Pittsfield is using the occasion of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, along with the first anniversary of the Beacon Cinema, as a great excuse for a block party.

The southbound lanes of North Street, from Columbus Avenue to West Street, will be closed to traffic from 7:30 p.m. to midnight and the evening’s events kick off with the cutting of a birthday cake for Beacon Cinema at 8:30 p.m. There will be a DJ spinning tunes, and a Harry Potter costume contest in front of the cinema at 9:30. Brulee’s Restaurant will host a trivia contest from 8:45 to 10:45, complete with prizes.

From 9 to 10 you can catch a Quidditch demonstration on North Street, put on by the Lenox High School Quidditch team. And restaurants all along the street will be serving Harry Potter-inspired food and beverages.
