Sheep, Wool, Music and More at Clermont

April 23 @ 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
This weekend’s Chancellor’s Sheep & Wool Showcase at Clermont State Historic Site is a festival that celebrates historic fiber arts in a way that has a little something for everybody in the family. The grounds will be full of animals, music, craft demonstrations, and more. Kids will love meeting a real merino sheep, ducks, and working border collies. They can listen to sheep-themed stories or make their own T-shirts and felted toys in the craft tent.

Special children’s tours with a “Spot the Sheep” scavenger hunt will be held in the historic mansion throughout the day. Local craft guilds will demonstrate spinning, weaving, and knitting so that children can learn how their clothing is made. The First Ulster County Militia will demonstrate Revolutionary firearms at 11 a.m. The whole family will enjoy the Celtic music of the David Godding Band and light-hearted dancing at 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Folk musicians The Barefoot Boys will play rousing renditions of 18th and 19th century tunes at 12:45 and 3:30 p.m.
