Spencertown Academy Hosts Nutcracker Ballet and Family Tea Party
December 12 @ 2 p.m.
Enjoy a taste of The Nutcracker and other classical ballet favorites followed by a family-friendly tea party at Spencertown Academy. The recital will feature students from the American Ballet Institute, under the direction of ballet mistress Sharon MacDonald, performing excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular holiday tradition (plus a special appearance and surprises by the beloved Nutcracker character Drosselmeyer).
The performance will also include two festive dances - a traditional Russian Shawl Dance performed with colorful, traditional Povlovo Posadski shawls to music from the opera Mavra composed by Igor Stravinsky, and a Russian dance originally performed in Swan Lake.
