Stoked 3 Offers Unique Art, Fun for a Kids’ Cause

March 26 @ 2 - 9 p.m.
Rural Intelligence Kids
Three years ago, the committee charged with raising funds to build an outdoor skateboarding venue in Chatham came up with the unique idea of auctioning off skate decks decorated by local (and a few out of town) artists. The initial event’s success was even greater than they anticipated, and now in the third year the combination art show/silent auction fundraiser has become an all day gathering. All proceeds benefit the skate park, a small part of which has all ready been set up at Crellin Park.

Held at the beautiful Charles B. Benenson Visitor’s Center at Art Omi, Stoked 3 Skate Deck Art Show and Auction features 90 skateboards, each as unique as the artist who created them. The designs run the gamut from black and white drawings to colorful painted designs to sculptures created with the boards. Besides artists, local kids and community groups create decks as well. Even if you’re not in the market for the unique decor, you’ll find the offerings hard to resist. There will also be raffles of baskets donated by local businesses, food and music by DJ OFI from 6 to 9 p.m.

You can see a preview of some of the skateboards by visiting the event page on Facebook.
