Sugar Plums and Nutcrackers Dance into Rhinebeck

December 10, 11 @ 8 p.m.
December 12 @ 3 p.m.

Rural Intelligence Kids
The CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck hosts its second annual performance of Sugar Plums and Nutcrackers, a classical ballet and variety performance drawn from The Nutcracker written and directed by award-winning director and choreographer Michele Ribble. The performance adapts the theme of the original Petipa/Tchaikovsky favorite by telling the story of a young girl named Zharah.

The audience will experience Zharah’s dreams through song, acrobatics, juggling, and the disciplines of classical ballet, classical jazz, rhythm tap, and hip-hop. Sugar Plums and Nutcrackers will thrill with a mixture of fantasia lighting and candy land bon bons, Christmas trees that grow forever, and clever, furry dancing mice. Dancing soldiers march on with flare as sugar plum fairies dance in the air.
