Some two dozen restaurants, caterers, bakers and wine shops donated a buffet feast for Monday night’s MayFest benefit for Construct Inc, which provides homeless prevention and supportive housing services for people with low to moderate incomes in the Southern Berkshires. Guests chatted with local chefs who set up tasting tables outside under a tent and inside the elegantly rustic Crissey Farm catering hall at Jennifer House Commons.

Only Shakespeare & Company, the ever-inventive theater troupe in Lenox, could celebrate its namesake’s 444th birthday with a party and performance that included a sing-a-long of Cole Porter’s “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and a rock band playing its version of “Willow” from Othello.
