Paper Trail Celebrates the Art of Paper

Rural Intelligence Parties and Openings Paper Trail owners Maureen Missner and Serine Hastings (left) are more than savvy merchants with great taste and a tongue-in-chic sensibility. They curate their Rhinebeck store more than stock it, filling it with winsome cards, stationery, books, wrapping paper, ribbons, jewelry and objets d’art. And if you ask them to design your wedding invitations or baby announcements, they will get involved as if they are part of your family. They learned merchandising together at Crate & Barrel during the Chicago retailer’s heyday in the 1970s, and for twenty years together they have run the Loom Company, which represents cutting-edge designers of home furnishings.  Now they focus on Paper Trail, where, on Saturday night, May 9, they opened a special exhibition (continuing through Memorial Day) of paper creations by two local artists: Ramon Lascano (who lives in Tivoli) and Linda Filley, whose one-of-a-kind paper mannequins have become the signature window display for Paper Trail
