Shaker Museum Gala at Future Site in New Lebanon

Rural Intelligence Parties and Openings
“Raise the Roof!“ was the theme of this year’s Shaker Museum and Library Gala, a dinner dance with silent and live auctions held under a tent on the grounds of the Darrow School, a beautiful former Shaker enclave in New Lebanon.  The roof in question is that of the future library, which will one-day be housed in what is presently the roofless shell of an extraordinary stone Shaker barn adjacent to the campus.  In the photograph at left, Museum and Library board chairman Jeff Daly with restorer extraordinaire Nancy Kyle, who is presently in the midst of saving the (Governor Samuel J.) Tilden House at the corner of Routes 20 and 22.
