It would be a shame if you had to wait for a table on the deck with its gorgeous views of the lake and the rolling lawns of the public golf course (though the indoor dining room with its circular fireplace in the middle the room is—dare we say?—chic.) The<a href="http://www.copakecountryclub.com/dinner.html" title=" Greens at the Copake Country Club" target="_blank"> Greens at the Copake Country Club</a> is so off the beaten path that you would never just stumble across it, and yet it is only a couple of miles from Hillsdale and the Route 23 exit for the Taconic State Parkway. Although you will be handed a dinner menu with serious entrees like grilled sea scallops with cellophane noodles in coconut lemongrass broth ($26) and Herondale Farm beef stew ($23), you can also ask for the <a href="http://www.copakecountryclub.com/clubmenu.html" title="Club Menu" target="_blank">Club Menu</a> that is filled with hearty bargains such as a turkey club sandwich ($8) and jumbo burger ($9) that come with a mound of fries and cole slaw, and chicken Caesar salad ($10). The folks running this intelligently gentrified golf club seem to understand their diverse clientele so there’s a children’s menu (pasta with butter: $5) as well as a list of local purveyors who supply the restaurant, including <a href="http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M19679" title=" Equinox Farm" target="_blank"> Equinox Farm</a>, <a href="http://www.ruralintelligence.com/index.php/style_section/style_articles_garden/the_woman_behind_farm_girl_farm/" title="Farm Girl Farm" target="_blank">Farm Girl Farm</a>, <a href="http://www.herondalefarm.com/" title="Herondale Farm" target="_blank">Herondale Farm</a> and <a href="http://sococreamery.com/document/24959" title="SoCo Creamery" target="_blank">SoCo Creamery</a>. A brand new covered porch that looks like a rural version of a trendy urban lounge has just opened so you can enjoy cocktails and the views even on a stormy day.
