Conserving Water, One Raindrop at a Time
This Saturday, November 8, as part of their Green Gardening Educational Series, The Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge will offer a special two-hour talk on water conservation in the garden by guest lecturer Marcus de la Fleur. Mr. de la Fleur, a landscape architect with the Conservation Design Forum in Elmhurst, Illinois, is an expert on what to do with rainwater. He will describe the latest domestic water conservation methods, including green roofs (left), rain barrels, porous pavements, rain gardens, gravel grass, cisterns and bioswales, which, he contends, are all “good, effective, simple ways of returning our gardens to a natural water cycle.”
