Hudson Children’s Book Festival Cocktail Party
The Hudson Children’s Book Festival Literacy Fund invites you to its 5th annual cocktail party to raise funds to support the children of the Hudson City School District. Your donation will give a student the opportunity to attend this year’s festival and purchase a book from an author of their choice. Stair Galleries, 5-7 p.m.

Get BART Smart
Now in its 10th year, this annual fundraising event supports BART Charter Public School’s college preparatory program. Teams tour the school and compete in a trivia contest throughout BART classrooms to see who will make the grade in subjects like the SATs, Tech 101 and Pop Culture. 6 p.m.

April 8, Ghent
Hot Jazz & Cool Blues
The Ghent Playhouse will hold a benefit to celebrate their longtime “Costumer Extraordinaire” Joanne Maurer. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help finance the installation of air-conditioning in the theater. In addition to a lavish dessert bar, libations of various types and a silent auction, enjoy live music by The Joe Adee Band. 7 p.m.

Annual Spring Poetry Dinner
Celebrate National Poetry Month by attending the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon’s annual dinner with poet Terrance Hayes. Hayes, a MacArthur Fellowship recipient, is the author of five poetry collections, including Lighthead, which received the 2010 National Book Award for Poetry. CATA’s annual performances and gala celebrating the artistry of people with disabilities will take place at Shakespeare & Company. Saturday’s gala evening includes cocktails at 5 p.m., a performance at 6 p.m., and a buffet reception with music and dancing. Sunday’s matinee performance begins at 1 p.m.
