If you can't bring all of Columbia County to the New York Public Library, then bring an NYPL exhibition that is dear to your heart to Columbia County. Thus was the reasoning behind Carey Maloney and Hermes Mallea's Saturday, October 24, showing at their Germantown house of a set of the panels from the library's now-traveling-to-the-branches version of last summer's exhibition. Even the banner that hung outside the main library building on 42nd Street, donated to the NYPL by our Wandering Eye blogger Carey as a wedding gift to Hermes, is now permanently ensconced at their riverfront house, where, at present, it hangs from a mighty oak next to the patio.
