May 2 | Great Barrington, MA | 11am–6pm (reception 4–6 PM)
Art in the Berkshires, which has operated since 2024 as an online arts calendar and directory connecting artists, venues, and audiences across the region, opens its first physical space on May 2 at 8 Castle Street in Great Barrington. Doors open at 2 pm, with a ribbon-cutting at 3:45pm and a reception from 4pm to 6pm.
The inaugural exhibition, "The Berkshires Now," will showcase more than 30 Berkshire-based and regional artists across painting, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and finely crafted functional objects. Beyond the gallery, the space includes a curated shop of artisanal goods and a dedicated creative studio that will host workshops, artist talks, demonstrations, readings, and performances on an ongoing basis.
The organization was founded in 2024 by artist Shany Porras with the idea that a centralized platform could make it easier for people to find and support local artists. The new Castle Street space is meant to extend that mission into something you can walk into, a place where collectors, visitors, and locals can encounter work that reflects the breadth of the region's creative community, not just its most established institutions.
