Barrington Stage’s Annual Gala: Virtual, But Still A Bash

The Barrington Stage Company’s gala on Saturday, June 27, didn’t follow the usual format of cocktails across the street, a show, and dinner under the tent. The BSC BASH: On With The Show! may have been a free virtual party and fundraiser, but like other years, served up plenty of entertainment. There was even a pre-show: 15 minutes of video highlights from some of the musicals produced over the years. Along with special performances by past and present BSC artists, the BASH gave Artistic Director Julianne Boyd the opportunity to explain why and how Barrington Stage will open its performance season on August 5 with social distancing protocols in place, beginning with “Harry Clarke,” a one-man thriller. Boyd also announced the launch of BSC’s Next Act campaign, with a goal of raising $1 million to ensure that BSC not only survives 2020, but thrives in 2021.
