Rural Intelligence

I work in agricultural communications and also do a lot of work in sustainable agriculture, so I enjoy your blog on many levels. I was struck by your description of your weather this year—it’s similar to ours here in Kentucky.  The last week we’ve had a couple of gentle soaking rains, but up until then, it’s been a lot of “get-in-the-basement-now!” type weather.
Friends recently commented on the fact that I have several Zone 7 flowering plants in my garden and they’re thriving and returning each year.  It’s not surprising.  We, who are labeled as Zone 6A, haven’t had a zone 6 winter in years.  Climate change?  It’s happening and putting on blinders won’t make it any different.
I wish you much success with all your great work.  I have to admit, I’m a tad green. :>)
