BIFF Special Screening: 30th Anniversary of “Scrooged”
The Mahaiwe Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF) presents a screening of Scrooged, the dark comedy update of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol directed by Richard Donner. The film stars Bill Murray as Frank, a cynical television executive; Karen Allen plays his kind-hearted girlfriend, Claire. Frank’s ruthless nature inspires a supernatural intervention when he callously fires his long-suffering yes-man Eliot (Bobcat Goldthwait) on Christmas Eve. That night, he's visited by three eccentric ghosts (John Forsythe, David Johansen and Carol Kane), who force him to look back on the choices that led him to his present state and the grim future that awaits if he doesn't change. A conversation and Q&A session with Karen Allen and Mary Mott follows the screening.
