Crescendo in Great Barrington: Consort of Ladies
Saint James Place Crescendo celebrates the artistic virtuosity of the 16th century Italian women’s ensemble Concerto delle Donne, likely the first of its kind. Sopranos Catherine Hancock, Rebecca Palmer and Jennifer Tyo perform music of the time that is highly expressive, often of the bittersweet contradictions of love. Artistic Director Christine Gevert (organ and harpsichord) and Hideki Yamaya (theorbo) accompany.
