A Greek vibe presided over the Fairview Hospital’s gala on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Great Barrington, from the toga-clad models to the Greek salad and shawarma, Greek key table linens and, of course, the honoree, Dr. George Veinoglou, who is of Greek heritage. The bow-tied, motorcycle-riding surgeon joined the Fairview Hospital staff three decades ago when it was a little country hospital. His stellar reputation helped recruit medical professionals to the facility and make it the modern hospital so beloved by the community today. With the goal of upgrading the patient monitoring system, a raffle to win a trip to Taormina in Sicily generated funds on the spot, as did an auction for a guitar donated and personalized by James and Kim Taylor, which raised $4,500. Following the dinner, guests gathered at the Mahaiwe and were astonished by the spectacular powers of magician and mentalist Oz Pearlman.
