May 24, 3pm | West Stockbridge, MA

The West Stockbridge Chamber Players close out their spring season on May 24 at 3pm with a concert at the Old Town Hall featuring works by Haydn, Mozart, Prokofiev, and living composer Ema Quinones Nunez. The program runs about 90 minutes.

The ensemble is led by artistic director and clarinetist Catherine Hudgins and joined for this concert by oboist Amanda Hardy, violinist Sheila Fiekowsky, and violist Daniel Getz. The standout name on the bill is double bassist Edwin Barker, who was appointed principal double bass of the Boston Symphony Orchestra at age 22 and has held that position for nearly 50 years. He has performed and recorded extensively with the BSO and the Boston Symphony Chamber Players, taught at the Tanglewood Music Center where he served as chairman of instrumental and orchestral studies from 2004 to 2012, and is an associate professor at Boston University.

The inclusion of Quinones Nunez alongside the standard repertoire is a nice touch. Details on the specific works haven't been announced yet; check the West Stockbridge Historical Society's website for updates.

Old Town Hall, 9 Main St., West Stockbridge, MA. Tickets $35–$40 at weststockbridgehistory.org. Card to Culture cardholders $20.
