Hillsdale ArtsWalk Celebrates Local Creativity Throughout the Hamlet

On Saturday, August 8, Hillsdale's walkable downtown becomes an open-air gallery as the annual Hillsdale ArtsWalk returns with dozens of artists, artisans, musicians, and local businesses transforming the hamlet into a daylong celebration of regional creativity.

The free, volunteer-run event stretches from C. Herrington Home + Design at the junction of Routes 22 and 23 through Village Square and down Anthony Street, inviting visitors to wander between indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces hosted by local shops and galleries. Along the route, artists from Columbia County and beyond will present work ranging from painting, watercolor, collage, ceramics, jewelry, pottery, and woodworking to specialty baked goods, with many exhibitors available to discuss their work and offer pieces for purchase.

Live music runs throughout the day, with performances beginning at 10 a.m. by jazz pianist Howard Lieberman, followed by folk and blues from Abby Lappen, Americana from The Junk Drawers, classic rock by Sky Alligator, bluegrass from Rob Bradley & Matt Bowe, and a closing set of folk-rock favorites by Rick & Marilyn.

Designed to be accessible and family-friendly, the ArtsWalk also offers complimentary golf cart transportation, courtesy of Copake Country Club, for visitors who would prefer not to walk the full route. Printed event programs and maps will be available at the information booth on the day of the event.

The Hillsdale ArtsWalk is presented by the nonprofit Hillsdale ArtsWalk organization, whose mission is to support artists while highlighting the cultural richness of the Roe Jan region. The event also leads naturally into the Roe Jan SummerFest, which begins later that afternoon nearby, making it easy to spend an entire day exploring Hillsdale's arts, food, music, and community.
