KMR Arts for Mayflower Inn: New England Soigné

Dale Stewart reports from Washington, CT.Authors, filmmakers, and designers mixed it up with an equally well-heeled art crowd at the Mayflower Inn in Washington, CT, on Friday, January, 4. They were toasting the new year and supporting KMR Arts and its gallerist, Kathy McCarver Root (pictured center, with Michael Maren and Dani Shapiro) and her expanded installation of fine-art photography in the hotel’s Tap Room and adjoining dining space. The alliance between the tony five-star resort and KMR Arts began in September and has evolved through conversations with John Trevenen, General Manager of The Mayflower and a longtime friend of Root. KMR Arts is slowly blending the Inn’s old-World charm with the gallerist’s contemporary keen eye with soigné works by Horst P. Horst, Paul Caponigro, Leo Fuchs, and Lillian Bassman, all of whose works combine to make the place feel more like Chateau Marmont East than a New England retreat.
