Tanglewood Business Partners celebrate the organization’s record growth
Good for Tanglewood, good for business: Members of Tanglewood's Business Partners recognize the importance of Tanglewood as a pivotal economic stimulus for the area, and by supporting the music festival, receive numerous benefits in return. Not the least are the twice-yearly receptions that are anticipated events. On Thursday, Aug. 23, the reception, held in the Tent Club on Tanglewood grounds, was extra special: it included an invitation to sit in on the dress rehearsal for the Bernstein Centennial Celebration concert. First, though, there was an array of food stations to explore, SoCo Creamery ice cream for dessert, and a welcome by Laurence Oberwager, director of the Business Partners, and Mary Jane White, committee chair. “We’ve set a new record,” White said. “We’re up to 320 business partners, with 34 new members this year alone.” The guests also heard from Mark Volpe, the BSO’s executive director, and Robert Krizinger, associate director of program publications, who ran through the lineup of the program and performers they would be observing that evening.
