ArtBerkshires: A New Creative Collaboration

Rural Intelligence Parties and Openings On Wednesday, August 4, at the Sienna Gallery in Lenox, the women driving ArtBerkshires—Leslie Ferrin, Suky Werman and Sienna Patti (left to right)—held a reception to celebrate 20/21 Modern Style + Studio Craft, a series of exhibits and programs that links mid-century Modernism to contemporary art and design. There are events scheduled through October, but the launch weekend (August 5 - 8) is especially rich with with talks and receptions in Lenox, Stockbridge and Pittsfield. On Friday, August 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., Werman’s Barn Gallery at Stonover Farm will host an opening for 20/21 Modern Style and Studio Craft, a group show blending vintage and contemporary art and design. On Saturday, the Barn Galley will host a brunch and conversation with guest curator Sarah Archer of Greenwich House Pottery, and in the afternoon Maria Mingalone, director of interpretation at Berkshire Museum, will lead a special tour of the museum’s Alexander Calder mobiles, stabiles and toys, plus important modernist paintings held in collection storage, followed by a conversation with Archer on Modern Style in American Studio Ceramics at Ferrin Gallery from 4 to 6 p.m. On Sunday, Jane Adlin, associate curator of Nineteenth-Century, Modern, and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will discuss the jewelry of Alexander Calder at a brunch at the Sienna Gallery, and in the afternoon Mark McDonald, the Hudson dealer and expert in modernism, will lead a tour of the Frelinghuysen Morris House in Lenox.
