24 Hours to Count Every Species: Berkshire Biodiversity Day Returns to Bartholomew's Cobble
BEAT's 17th annual BioBlitz brings scientists and naturalists together with the public for a full day and night of species surveying

The Berkshire Environmental Action Team holds its 17th annual Berkshire Biodiversity Day, also known as Berkshire BioBlitz, over 24 continuous hours at Bartholomew's Cobble, starting at noon on September 19 and running through noon the following day. Participation is free and open to all ages and experience levels—attendees can drop in at any point during the window to join guided walks, hands-on demonstrations of survey techniques, and expert-led presentations, or simply contribute their own species observations across the Cobble's 357 acres.
The goal: Gotta catch them all! Or, rather identify and count as many species as possible—plants, animals, fungi, and everything in between—within a single 24-hour stretch, working alongside scientists, naturalists, and environmental educators who lead the scheduled programming. All activities are based at Bartholomew's Cobble, with registration required upon arrival. A detailed schedule of the full 24-hour program is posted on BEAT's website.
